Sussex Prairie Garden Exhibition

The Sussex Prairie Garden is Britain’s largest prairie style garden, surrounding the owners’ Dutch Barn home which was shortlisted for the Grand Designs House of the Year in 2022.

Set in the eight acres of beautiful naturalistic gardens, is “Expressions of Nature” - a new exhibition of glass and mixed media sculpture for summer 2023, curated by Gabrielle Argent who organised the successful “Glass Garden” exhibition for RHS Chelsea Flower Show in 2022.

“Ocean Haze” glass sculpture, 42cm x 145cm

I have made three sculptures for this exhibition:

One is a large standalone statement piece, entitled Ocean Haze, an impressionist design of ocean waves. The art glass has been laminated on both sides with toughened glass and the overall thickness is over 2omm so it is very sturdy. It is 42cm wide and 145cm tall, held in a purpose made aluminium channel. The channel is secured to a concrete block hidden in the ground.

The other two pieces work as a pair but are also available to purchase separately. These are from my Koi series, each one slightly different. The glass panels (40cm and 50cm diameters) are set into steel holders which are mounted onto stained tanalised timber posts, set into the earth.

Sussex Prairie Garden is open from 1 June to 15 October 2023 (please check their website for visiting information).

Here is a lovely film that was made of the sculpture trail - do take a look (my pieces are shown towards the end at 3:25).
